Whats going on with Digg.com? There is a sad but one of the most important story’s of our time that was dugg as of 11:55 CST over 12,526 times and yet it does not show up in the most dugg story list? Digg.com is one of my favorite sites and I have never seen a single story with so many diggs behind it. I don’t want to jump to conclusions on this but did Digg.com break suddenly?

For those of you who dont know, digg.com is a very novel concept allowing users to submit a story to digg and other readers “digg” a story, which pushes the popularity of the story forward, which in turn, gives it more exposure. This basically results in the readers deciding what the news headlines are based on votes.

The comments section have been buzzing regarding this oversight. Even still, it is not the top story with over 12000 diggs. The #1 story is Atheist soldier sues government with 3126 diggs? Last time I checked 12526 > 3126.

Something IS rotten in Denmark…

We live in an age where corporate owned conglomerate media outlets shove useless drivel about celebrities and shopping tips down our gullets rather than focusing on relevant news. Digg.com was a fresh breathe of air supposed to prevent this sort of thing. I certainly hope the digg team will respond to this with a “oops, our algorithm was wack”.

On the other hand, the internet allows us to call out this kind of ass-hattery in a totally unprecedented way. We will drag today’s government entities and corporations into transparency whether they want it or not.
