from the WTF department:

According to several sources, homeland security policy now allows confiscation of laptops, phones and mp3 players ‘indefinitely’ at the border. Here is the actual document itself from cdt.org.

From PC world:

“As part of border search policy, government agents are now authorized to seize electronic devices and inspect documents in them, the document states. The electronic devices might include laptops, cell phones, portable music players or storage devices such as portable hard drives.
Agents with U.S. Customs and Border Protection will also be allowed to translate and share documents with other government agencies.”

More worrysome activities that are signaling a disturbing trend in this country. The systematic assault on the rights of american citizens.

One Response to “Homeland security can now keep your electronic devices?”

Not suprised by this. The only thing the Bush administration is good at is wasting tax money on unnecessary surveillance of law abiding tax paying citizens. Can’t wait until January when a new president takes charge.
