With the impeachment of Pervez Musharif followed by the recent regime change in Pakistan, there has been a stark reversal in policy with regard to the Bush Adminstration’s “war against terror”. First off, according to the Times of India–  the F-16 fighter jets we have given to the Pakistani air force may possibly be used to shoot down multi million dollar american predator drones. From the article:

On Sunday, the Pakistani media reported tribal sources as saying a PAF jets were seen patrolling the skies on the country’s western borders with Afghanistan in the afternoon, soon after a US predator was seen flying in the area. ”Neither the CIA-operated Predator nor the Pakistani jet fighter took any offensive action as the two planes didn’t encounter each other,” a report in the Pakistani newspaper The News, said. Pakistan’s army chief Pervez Kiyani has vowed to defend the country against US incursions ”at all costs.”

Also from Reuters, Pakistani troops fired upon US Helicopters over the weekend when they entered the country and forced a US retreat back into Afghanistan. From the Reuters article

:

“The U.S. choppers came into Pakistan by just 100 to 150 meters at Angor Adda. Even then our troops did not spare them, opened fire on them and they turned away,” said one security official. While Angor Adda villagers and officials supported that account, the U.S. and Pakistani military denied the report.

If these reports are indeed accurate, our former BFF Pakistan is not wanting to “play ball” any longer. According to the venerable George W. Bush, in 2001 as part of his “doctrine”, he stated;

“Over time it’s going to be important for nations to know they will be held accountable for inactivity,” he said. “You’re either with us or against us in the fight against terror.”

Oops, looks like we’ve got another enemy in the war against terror… and don’t forget, Pakistan has nukes!
