No payouts for the CEOs of Fannie and Freddy

weee!

weee!

In so many corporate failures the CEOs “jump ship” with bulging moneybags leaving the rest of the people to deal with sinking ship. Well in a twist of shocking great news, the federal government is deciding to apply some semblance of justice to the colossal failure of the CEOs of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. From the Washington Post:

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), the regulator that seized control of the mortgage giants last weekend and removed their chief executives, declined yesterday to specify what the executives would lose. Former Fannie Mae chief executive Daniel Mudd and former Freddie Mac chief executive Richard Syron together were eligible to receive as much as $25 million, according to outside compensation consultants who last week reviewed the companies’ financial disclosures.

“The Federal Housing Finance Agency notified [Mudd and Syron] that ‘golden parachute’ payments contemplated under their contracts would not be paid,” the agency said in a statement.

A spokesman for Syron declined to comment, and the Washington lawyer representing Mudd, Robert B. Barnett, did not return a phone call or e-mail.

The disgraced executives will still walk away with millions in severance but not nearly the amount that was in their contracts.

Jim Cramer predicted the financial collapse a year ago!

Monday, September 15th, 2008

All heed the words from the maniacal Jim Cramer (of CNBC fame)!! This prophetic broadcast from one year ago where he lost his ever lovin mind screaming that Ben Bernanke had no idea what was happening in the markets and foretold the impending financial collapse that is unfolding in front of our eyes.

In addition to calling Bernanke out, he screeches at the top of his lungs about Bear and Stearns and Washington Mutual, with B&S having gone the way of the dodo and WaMu sinking fast. Anohter interesting prediction, “7 million people will lose their homes!”

Maybe we should put this guy in charge of some stuff… seems to be better than the people running things now.

MSNBC Censors a live press conference

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

Again, we run into this situation where the truth seems to dig up from the ground despite the best efforts of the mass media outlets. This time the “truth” struck a live press conference with Condoleezza Rice when a reporter makes a comparison to the U.S. reaction to 9/11 to Russia’s reaction in response to Georgian attacks–the live satellite feed “mysteriously” drops off in the middle of his question/comment. The corporate controlled media outlets are getting more brazen and open with censorship (wow has our country changed!). Just in case you didn’t hear about or see this, the movie is posted below.

Burglar wakes sleeping victims with ‘sausage slap’

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

In a bizarre case out of Fresno, CA. A burglar woke 2 victims of a burglary up by rubbing spices on one man and slapping another man with a sausage? From the AP article:

The farmworkers told deputies the suspect woke them Saturday morning by rubbing spices on one of them and smacking the other with an 8-inch sausage.

Lets all be thankful that this “Spice rub bandit” has been apprehended by the authorities. There’s no telling what this meat wielding miscreant would have escalated to if he was still on the loose. A double T-Bone clap to the sides of the head?

Sarah Palin fails in a focus group on C-SPAN

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

This is an interesting video posted on Youtube about a focus group consisting of long time republican voter reactions after Sarah Palin’s announcement as the republican Vice Presidential running mate by John McCain.

The results by the voters? She failed miserably…

The voters were asked one by one to use a phrase to describe the choosing of Sarah Palin as the republican Vice presidential nominee. Some of the responses varied from “a breath of fresh air” and “good looking” to “dangerous”, a “huge mistake” and one particular voter even stated:

Senator McCain is 73 years old and he will be 76 years old by the end of his first term. If something were to happen to him in the first fours years… would I want this woman in the white house in a cold war with Russia? I don’t think so.

Several of the voters stated that they had no choice but to switch their vote to Obama!!!

Signs of the impending Idiocracy

Sunday, September 7th, 2008

With the 2008 presidential election looming ahead, and despite the will of the people, it looks like with the assistance of Fox news, corporate assistance, a corrupt congress, vote fraud, the propping up of artificially competent candidates, general idiocy, the republicans are probably going to hijack the presidency for the next four years.

While watching the Republican National Convention, I couldnt help to observe that 99.9% of the crowd attending the convention consisted of wealthy caucasians ( I think I saw one indian guy in the crowd). Another thing I couldn’t help but notice were the glimpse of protests erupting in the convention during McCains speech. The overall theme of the convention was “Country First”. The composition of the convention attendees were NOT an accurate cross section of America.

The thing that was probably THE most humorous were the various gaffs and grossly misspelled “signs” and “banners” in the audience. It gave me a chuckle and reminded me of the hilarious movie Idiocracy. Below is montage of imagery for your entertainment.

7 Terrorist groups that exist because of the Bush administration

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Great piece from the OSI gazette. An in depth article chronicling the inception of new terrorist organizations in a response to the Bush administrations foreign policy. oh, so I get it. The U.S. needs to fight the “war on terror” and if we don’t have enough enemies, Bush can just bomb a part of the world and piss off enough people until they rise up and fight back. Voila, instant terrorists!

Heres the list, read the FULL article for the specific details.

1) Al Qaeda in Iraq

2) Ansar al-Islam (Arabic for “Supporters of Islam”)

3) Jamaat Ansar al-Sunnah (Arabic: Group of the Protectors of Sunnah)

4) Mahdi Army Suspended in August 2008

5) Al-Zarqawi Network aka “Tanzim Qa’idat al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn,” started 2003

6) Fatah al-Islam

7) The “new” Al-Qaeda/ Iran.

One additional thing I noticed on the bottom of the original story:

Note: Because of Digg’s censorship team, this article has been blocked from Digg. If you would like to submit it, you need to contact: feedback@digg.com

Wow, this is about the 6th time I’ve seen or read allegations that digg.com is censoring information. Another front where “the people” lost out to big corporate interests…

A new ‘missile crisis’ brewing with Russia?

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Looks like there may be a reason that the U.S. and NATO are backing off from pressuring Russia’s recent brutal crushing of Georgia. From Globalsecurity.org:

Russia may proceed with plans to sell advanced S-300 air defense systems to Iran under a secret contract believed to have been signed in 2005, a Russian analyst said on Monday.

Commenting on an article in the Sunday Telegraph newspaper saying Russia is using the plans as a bargaining chip in its standoff with America, Ruslan Pukhov, director of Moscow-based Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies, said: “In the current situation, when the U.S. and the West in general are stubbornly gearing toward a confrontation with Russia after the events in South Ossetia, the implementation of a lucrative contract on the deliveries of S-300 [air defense systems] to Iran looks like a logical step.”

This, combined with Syria’s desire for Russian weapons systems might be “cooling off” animosity from NATO, the US and the WTO. From the BBC article:

Moscow and Damascus are reportedly preparing deals on anti-aircraft and anti-tank missile systems, as well as surface-to-surface Iskander missiles.

This could also be a case of “oneupsmanship” on the part of Russia in retaliation for the U.S. backed Missile shield being installed in Poland.

Since the US media isn’t even touching this story, stay tuned for more interesting developments…
