Sign petition to keep wall street bailout debts off our plates!

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

Much like the Patriot act, one of the most unjust and and insidious pieces of legislation is about to get railroaded through congress right under the noses of the American people. The proposed Wall Street bailout tailored by Treasury secretary Henry Paulson and the Bush administration is good for “Wall Street” but devastating for “Main Street”.

In the latest Rasmussen poll, only 7% of the America supports a bailout of Wall Street, and when there are already financial experts and professors stating that this bailout is unnecessary, this attempted robbery of the American people cannot go unchecked. Please sign the petition over at Public Citizen. Take 3 minutes out of your day to have your voice heard.

If this bailout act passes it is tantamount to making almost every American citizen a slave. Here’s an idea… Why don’t we try what Sweden did in the early 1990s to save their insolvent banking system?

7 Terrorist groups that exist because of the Bush administration

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Great piece from the OSI gazette. An in depth article chronicling the inception of new terrorist organizations in a response to the Bush administrations foreign policy. oh, so I get it. The U.S. needs to fight the “war on terror” and if we don’t have enough enemies, Bush can just bomb a part of the world and piss off enough people until they rise up and fight back. Voila, instant terrorists!

Heres the list, read the FULL article for the specific details.

1) Al Qaeda in Iraq

2) Ansar al-Islam (Arabic for “Supporters of Islam”)

3) Jamaat Ansar al-Sunnah (Arabic: Group of the Protectors of Sunnah)

4) Mahdi Army Suspended in August 2008

5) Al-Zarqawi Network aka “Tanzim Qa’idat al-Jihad fi Bilad al-Rafidayn,” started 2003

6) Fatah al-Islam

7) The “new” Al-Qaeda/ Iran.

One additional thing I noticed on the bottom of the original story:

Note: Because of Digg’s censorship team, this article has been blocked from Digg. If you would like to submit it, you need to contact: feedback@digg.com

Wow, this is about the 6th time I’ve seen or read allegations that digg.com is censoring information. Another front where “the people” lost out to big corporate interests…

The FBI wants more powers to ‘investigate’ people without any basis

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

It seems as though the Bush administration is trying to ram as many facist “laws” down our throats as they can before the next president is in office.

From The New York TImes:

A Justice Department plan would loosen restrictions on the Federal Bureau of Investigation to allow agents to open a national security or criminal investigation against someone without any clear basis for suspicion, Democratic lawmakers briefed on the details said Wednesday.

Is it just me or are you tired of the government’s attempt to “Protect us” too?

Iraq demands a U.S. withdrawal timeline

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

The Iraqi foreign minister has requested a timeline for the U.S. to withdraw from Iraq.

From Al-Jazeera:

The US must provide a “clear timeline” to withdraw its troops from Iraq as part of an agreement allowing them to operate in Iraq beyond this year, Hoshiyar Zebari, Iraq’s foreign minister, has said.

His comments on Sunday are the strongest public assertion yet that Iraq is demanding a timeline for US withdrawal.

The Reuters news agency quoted Zebari saying an agreement, including the timeline, was “very close” and would probably be presented to the Iraqi parliament in early September.

Lets hope the Bush administration ends the “oil grab” and actually listens to the desires of the Iraqi government as well as the American public.

4 people jailed for attempting to arrest Karl Rove

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

When will the Bush administration be held accountable? If the government doesn’t do it, it looks like the citizens will (or at least try…)

From Iowapolitics.com:

“Four Iowans were arrested today while attempting to make a Citizens’ Arrest of Karl Rove in Des Moines, Iowa. Citing Iowa Code provisions for making Citizen’s Arrests as well as citing Federal Statute violations they claimed Rove had violated, the four were stopped at the gate of the Wakonda Country Club in Des Moines where Rove was scheduled to speak at a Republican Fundraiser.

The four arrested were retired Methodist minister and Peace and Justice Advocate, Rev. Chet Guinn, 80, as well as three Des Moines Catholic Workers, Edward Bloomer, 61, Kirk Brown, 25, and Mona Shaw, 57. All four were cited for trespassing and released.

The four maintained that they were acting within the guidelines of Iowa Code that obligate private citizens to make such an arrest if they believe a felony has been committed and turn Rove over to police officials to bring Rove before a judge for formal indictment. By law, a federal judge should consider the charges and determine if an indictment should be made.”
