In the latest shining example of how our government treats our war veterans. An Iraq war veteran, Nick Morgan, was part of a peaceful protest in Nassau county, New York on the night of October 15th, 2008. Mounted police charged the crowd of U.S. war veterans with horses and knocked Morgan to the ground and then the horse stomped his skull shattering 3 orbital bones and knocking him unconscious. He was then dragged to the police van and tossed in and arrested. He is now being charged with disorderly conduct.

In his latest update on the Iraq Veterans Against the War website he writes:

I have spent several hours at the VA in Philadelphia and will be having surgery on Thursday, Oct. 23rd to stop my eye from sinking into my sinus cavity. The lower orbital (cheekbone) on the right side of my face is broken in three places. My nose may be fractured but will heal by itself since it is not out of place. I also have scrapes, bruises, and significant pain in my ribs (the x-rays were negative).

Every day someone tells me how much better my face looks. The stitches are still in and look like they are ready to come out. The swelling has almost subsided but there is still a fair amount of blood around my eye. My vision is a little blurry sometimes but it should get better. I don’t have feeling in a portion of my upper lip, nose, and upper right set of teeth. The surgeons said the feeling might come back depending on what type of nerve damage occurred. It’s getting much easier to eat. I just have to make sure to stay away from crunchy things and to take small bites, as my mouth still won’t open completely. Sleeping isn’t exactly easy because I can only sleep on my back due to my injuries….but other than all that, life is good!

Nick Morgan (without knowledge regarding the details of his service while he was enlisted as a Sergeant in the army) not only risked his well being for our country overseas but coming back home and realizing that the Constitution he swore to defend was in trouble and then deciding to continue the fight back home, that my friends is the definition of a hero. Best wishes to a speedy recovery to you Mr. Morgan.

On a final note, (besides only being reported by a handful of blogs and a brief AP article) shame, shame, shame! on the mass media outlets for NOT reporting on this story. I guess news stories like this are more important?

Watch the movie here. Warning: The movie is fairly graphic and brutal.

oh my friends, its becoming painfully and excruciatingly obvious that the democratic and free market system we have enjoyed as Americans for over 2 centuries is coming to a close. A new era is emerging– an era of oppression, misinformation and subjigation.

During this “transition” of power from the people to the oligarchy, the mainstream corporate owned media is whole heartedly in compliance and support of this, for lack of a better term “New World Order”. So one of the new directions I am going to take with the site is to begin to focus on more significant happenings that are occuring in the world that the big media outlets are “missing”.

Oh, here’s one!!! This gem is the recently uncovered video of the mass arrest by the Police of hundreds of innocent people enjoying a day in the park in St. Paul, MN.

From Alternet.org:

Watch this video for yourself to see if you can spot anyone committing a crime.. hell, try to even find someone protesting vigorously in the park. You can now be arrested for hanging out in a park waiting to attend a concert?

Wow, we aren’t in Kansas anymore, toto…

Eddie Romero, a pastor from the United States filmed himself in upscale hotel rooms Beijing paintings protests on the walls and vandalizing the room. From AP:

On Tuesday, in a sometimes unsteady hand – he had to teach himself how to paint – the California-based pastor splashed the walls of his two hotel rooms with demands for the release of five Chinese activists. He slashed pillows and staged mock killings with stuffed people propped on the bed, red paint spattered like blood on the headboard.

“One down,” Romero whispers, looking into the video camera. Bespectacled and gray-haired, he holds up a finger in his transformed Novotel Peace Hotel room. “One down.”

Romero, who appears to be alone, tells the camera he doesn’t want to disrupt the games. He talks about religious freedom for groups that remain highly sensitive with the Chinese government – Tibetan Buddhists, Uighur Muslims, the Falun Gong spiritual movement.

“Freedom’s a scary thing for them, and by them I mean the Chinese communists,” he says.

GO EDDIE !!!!!!
