FUCK YOU I won’t do what you tell me!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

It seems as if there is some anti mass media initiatives succeeding in Britain. This could be a backlash to the endemic surveillance and the “big Brother” type atmosphere in the UK.  The Facebook campaign started a backlash against the mass media driven choices for entertainment.

From the article:

Rage Against The Machine have sensationally outsold X Factor winner Joe McElderry to take the Christmas number one!

Thanks to a Facebook led campaign, the Los Angeles band’s 1992 anthem ‘Killing In The Name’ has secured the Yuletide top spot after shifting 502,000 downloads, according to the Official Charts Company.

McElderry has had to settle for second place with ‘The Climb’ selling 450,000 copies. This marks the first time in five years an X Factor winner hasn’t claimed the Christmas number one.

Better still, not only is Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Killing In The Name’ number one, it has also achieved two new chart records.

Firstly it has notched up the biggest one-week download sales total in British chart history and it has also become the first ever download only Christmas number one in the UK.

Merry Christmas Rage!

Amazing beatbox and rythym flute

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

This is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in a long time. Some bored musicians in a hotel record a flute beat box song. Why isn’t this guy famous?

Ow! My Balls!

I never thought that it would happen. Mike judge is the Nostradumas of our time! There’s a festival next weekend in aptly named Cave in rock, Illinois and its called the 10th Annual Gathering Of The Juggalos (they made it to 10?). Watch and enjoy! I’m willing to bet that the first casting call for “Ow my Balls!” will be held there next year at the 11th annual gathering of the juggalos…

Looks like a variety show from a Korean network. This jackie chan lookalike gets a little too “into” the music hes playing and ends up getting all of the attention from the camerman. At about the 3 minute mark hes starts doing some old school headbanging (to a slow song). A must see!

Apple to close i-tunes store?

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Money.co.uk is reporting that America’s Copyright Royalty Board will meet to discuss the raising of royalties for digital music purchases from 9 cents to 15 cents per song. THis leaves the “middlemen” of the digital music peddling business stuck with the bill. Eddy Cue, the VP of the itunes store said,

“If (the iTunes store) were forced simply to absorb any increase in its mechanical royalty rate, the result would be to significantly increase the likelihood of the store operating at a financial loss. Apple has repeatedly made clear that it is in this business to make money and most likely would not continue to operate (the iTunes store) if it were no longer possible to do so profitably”

With other apple products like the iphone depending on itunes activation and syncing, I wonder how this will affect the procedures if the store shuts down?

UPDATE: Looks like the appeal failed. Marketwatch is reporting that the rates will remain the same. The itunes store is safe.

‘Real’ coverage of the RNC

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

Tired of the same old wearisome unimportant “news”? Wondering about the peculiar lack of coverage of the Republican National Convention? Well fear no more. Get “real news” from the Coldsnap twitter feed. Its real time commentary of the Coldsnap legal team on the ground in St. Paul. There are some interesting tidbits being posted on the twitter feed such as:

Person tackled by 5 SPPD in riot gear for refusing a search. Media was present for this. 02:08 PM September 01, 2008 from web

Female individual snatched off street by unmarked car on 6th & Wacouta 02:12 PM September 01, 2008 from web

Rage Against the Machine just took 200 people on unpermitted march toward river. They are chanting, “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me.” about 6 hours ago from web

Report from prisoner: had been pepper sprayed all over her body, was not allowed to wash it off, now has first degree burns. about 5 hours ago from web

If the Twitter feeds are indeed accurate, theres some nazi germany tactics going on in St. Paul. This is MOST certainly stuff you won’t hear coming from the spoon fed corporate media outlets.

RATM playing across from the RNC… what could go wrong?

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

The rebel rock group Rage against the Machine are playing on September 3rd (the same time as the Republican National Convention) in St. Paul, Minnesota at the Target Center. If their last co-liner with a political convention is any sign of things to come, this ought to be a intense night. From the VH1 article:

De la Rocha recently called for President Bush to be “tried for being a war criminal,” and during the band’s Lolla set, he raged against the last eight years of Republican rule and even had a word of warning for “Brother Obama,” referring to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama.

“Now, we know Brother Obama. … But I tell you what, if he comes to power come November and he doesn’t start pulling troops out of Afghanistan, I know a lot of people who are gonna stand up and burn down every office of every Senate.”

Here is the full article.
